Diwali celebrations at Manovikas Kendra began on a bright, joyful note with the “Festive Fiesta” on 16th October 2025. Students enjoyed a fun-filled morning of games and activities organised by the Interact Clubs of The BSS School, Calcutta International School, and Sri Sri Academy, reflecting the true spirit of inclusion and togetherness.

The event was inaugurated by Dr Krishnendu Gupta, Past District Governor of Rotary District 3291, along with Ms Arpita Chatterjee, Ms Gargi Banerjee, Ms Dipti Khaitan, and our Chairperson, Prof Anuradha Lohia. Heartfelt thanks to the Interact Clubs for bringing joy, light, and festive cheer to our campus this Diwali.

Ensembl Genome Browser Workshop

September ’25

Manovikas Kendra hosted a two-day Ensembl Genome Browser Workshop (24–25 September 2025), introducing participants to the study of genomes and genetic variations through interactive sessions and practical demonstrations.

Led by Dr Jorge Batista da Rocha, Outreach Project Leader at EMBL-EBI, the workshop blended theory and hands-on learning, showcasing tools like the Variation Effect Predictor (VEP) to connect genomic science with real-world medical applications.

Smt Sanghamitra Ghosh visits us

August ’25

We were elated to host the state Government’s Principal Secretary from the Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Smt Sanghamitra Ghosh on August 22, 2025. While our students presented some of our co-curricular activities, Smt Ghosh took a great deal of interest in what Manovikas Kendra offers in terms of therapy, vocational training and Biomedical Research, in addition to discussing areas of possible collaboration between Manovikas Kendra and the Government.

Independence Day Celebrations

Independence Day 2025 saw students of different schools like Indus Valley World School and Sushila Birla Girls’ School come together at Manovikas Kendra, amidst august company. We hosted Mrs and Mr Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, the co-founders of Bandhan Bank as the children displayed exemplary versatility in the performing arts.

Monsoon Melodies

July ’25

Monsoon Melodies at Manovikas Kendra on 16th July 2025 celebrated music, dance, and poetry, bringing together students from schools across Kolkata. Performances by our students and Interact Clubs from leading schools filled the day with colour, rhythm, and joy.

The event, graced by Chief Guest Ms Sanjukta Bose and other dignitaries, concluded with a collective rendition of “Hridoy Amar Nache Re Ajke,” capturing the spirit of unity and inclusion that defined the celebration.

A day when the students celebrated the magic of monsoon

On 15th July 2025, the children of Manovikas Kendra celebrated the magic of the monsoons with a vibrant programme of music and dance. Dressed in beautiful shades of blue and green, our students lit up the stage with confidence and cheer, much to the delight of their proud parents.
A heartfelt thanks to our dedicated teachers for preparing the children with such care, love, and endless patience.

On 12th July, over 200 people from the students and staff of Manovikas Kendra enjoyed a special screening of Sitaaren Zameen Par at Priya Cinema — a celebration of empathy, inspiration, and inclusion.

Manovikas Kendra Parampara Boulevard

Colours speak where words fall short, flowing from the hearts of our children into every brushstroke. At Parampara Boulevard 2025, their artwork on mugs, coasters, cards, and gift wraps was deeply appreciated. Our nimkis and masala muri were quick crowd favourites and sold out in no time! We are grateful to the Rotary Club of Calcutta, Chowringhee for giving our students this platform of pride and purpose.
Every purchase of this art encourages the students, creating a cycle of hope.

International Yoga Day Celebrations

At Manovikas Kendra, Yoga is woven into our children’s everyday care—not as an activity, but as a pathway to connection, calm, and confidence. For children with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and ADHD, Yoga supports motor skills, eases anxiety, and becomes a language of self-expression. On this International Yoga Day, we reaffirm its role as an integral part of our holistic care—nurturing the body, mind, and spirit every day

At Manovikas Kendra, collaboration is not just a gesture, it’s a pathway to inclusion, research, and change. On June 18, 2025, we were honoured to host Shri Dashrath Choudhari, Officer-in-charge along with Shri Parimal Bera, Lecturer in Special Education of NIEPID.
Books were donated. Proposals were shared. Conversations were sparked.
